Founded in 2003 by husband-and-wife team Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung, Poketo has grown from a small startup into a creative hub and online destination. A lifestyle brand born out of the desire to infuse art and design into every day, Poketo creates collections of design-conscious goods to cultivate a creative lifestyle.
The name Poketo (pronounced “poh-keh-toe”) stems from the mispronunciation of “pocket” by Angie’s grandmother. It tied in perfectly with the first product ever created under Poketo: a series of artist wallets that fit right in your pocket—and Ted and Angie just loved the way it sounded.

After discovering that the Benjamin Moore brand aligned closely with their high expectations of product quality, the Shivji family started the Benjamin Moore Vancouver group in 1997 out of a single store on the west side of Vancouver.
With a business philosophy that combines professional customer service with the agility of a family-business, the group expanded slowly and methodically, eventually becoming Western Canada’s largest authorized Benjamin Moore dealer. The group’s success can largely be attributed to the knowledge, professionalism, and quality of its people, many of whom have been with the group since its inception. It is their passion for the business that has enabled the group to continuously evolve and overcome the many challenges that the industry has faced throughout the last 20 years.
